Climate and Clothing
The climate in Britain is temperate. In summer, the temperature fluctuates between 14-23 degrees Celcius. There are usually no air conditioners inside houses for the weather is crisp and cool. Winters in England are mildly cool, and the temperature varies between 3-10 degrees Centigrade. Regardless of the season, the British weather changes from day to day, so it is a good idea to bring layers, a waterproof coat or jacket and an umbrella.
Shopping
Stores are usually open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Monday to Saturday. There are supermarkets open from 8:00am to 10:00 pm. Most companies and official offices are closed during the weekends, but some stores are open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday. However, there are also an increasing numbers of stores open 24 hours. Larger shops in major towns and cities stay open until 7 or 8 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Sports and Leisure
The British love sports such as football, cycling, tennis, horseback riding, swimming, and ice-skating. Taking a walk is always the most common sport for British. Besides that, traveling in Britain or abroad is an enjoyable part of their lifestyle.
Social and Cultural Activities
Cultural activities are at the heart of British life. Whether in London or other cities, there are countless cultural endeavors available. The theaters provide wonderful musicals and the many collections in the museums are definitely worth seeing. According to a survey, the most popular activity in Britain is going to the movies, and the British spend £4 billion every year at the cinema.

London - London, the capital of Britain is one of the most important European cities. The British govern-ment, parliament, and royal family as well as the financial center are also located here. When you are walking down the street you will find that London is not only a truly modern city, but also a combination of elegance and style. Don't miss those small art galleries, the unique palaces and especially the free British museums! A trip to the West End, which is well known for many musicals, is also a must. When looking at all of the wonderful qualities, we can see why London attracts millions of visitors each year.
Edinburgh - Edinburgh became the capital of Scotland in the fifteenth century. It earned the name “Northern Athens” for its spectacular architecture, splendid landscape and rich cultural heritage. Meanwhile, it is also the center of medicine, law and industry. Visitors can walk into the historic Old Town to discover the Scottish culture and explore Edinburgh castle. In August, Edinburgh becomes host to a great showcase of art, music, drama, and dance. During this time, the royal castle is host to the annual Military Tattoo, a celebration of traditional music and dance, a true traveler's delight.
