If you are looking for a less polluted, more rural atmosphere in Taiwan, this is the perfect place to be! The Loudong and Ilan branches are located in the North East region of Taiwan, just an hour and a half away from Taipei by train. When living in Ilan County you are a short drive away from several sandy beaches or forest covered mountains. Here you can expect a quieter way of life where you can easily reach the countryside in just a few minutes.

Many Native Speaking English Teachers (NST's) in Ilan spend their time studying Chinese at a local university, hiking or biking in the mountains, meeting up with other foreigners at cafes and restaurants, or relaxing or surfing on the local beaches. There are several area attractions including the Dongshan River, The Traditional Arts Center, hot and cold springs, and the Loudong Sports Park. Additionally, there are many festivals

during the year including the Ilan International Children’s Folklore and Folk Games Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Ilan Green Exhibition.

Living in Ilan County is considerably cheaper than living in Taipei. The average monthly rent is between 4,000-8,000 NT for a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment. Many NST's live near their branches while some have settled in cozy houses on the beach. While living in Ilan you can expect to meet many friendly locals who often exchange polite conversations or their phone numbers. The Loudong and Ilan branches are a twenty-minute scooter ride from each other. We have 9 NST's in the area, and some teachers will teach at both branches. The Ilan branch, including kindergarten and language school, is located in a newer building on the edge of the city. The Loudong language school is located in downtown Loudong near the bus station, night market, Loudong Sports Park and train station. The Loudong kindergarten opened its doors in August of 2005, not far from the language school, and is expected to draw in many new students.

Apart from the 9 NST's we also have about 15 Chinese co-workers at the Loudong/Ilan branches. About 12 of these staff members are Chinese Teachers (CT's) who work closely with the NST's in the classroom. Our CT's are well trained and committed teachers. We all work together in being good teachers, and creating a great branch atmosphere. Living and working in Ilan is a great opportunity and we hope you will enjoy the experience.

Scholars classes in the afternoon and early evenings! Let’s not forget the exercise room and all its fun! Everywhere you look you can see the creativeness of the children come to life with the many displays of projects and activities the children have completed. The outdoor hallways are full of paintings and out in front of each classroom you can always find a new theme related play area (learning center) that brings to life the imagination of the children before class, after lunch and even at the days end.
