Study Chinese While You Work!
Get more out of your Taiwan experience! Hess can help you to study Mandarin Chinese while you work. In most areas, we can arrange a practical series of Mandarin classes for you and other teachers. These classes vary in level and goals, based on the needs of the students and demand. Beginner classes will likely be more common in your area than advanced classes.

The classes are taught by professional Mandarin teachers, and they can be held at a time that suits your working schedule. Classes are usually held two times per week, for 90 minutes each class. Each week you will learn 15-20 new words and associated grammar structures, and will get a lot of practice at using them.

Communicative speaking and listening skills are the major focus of these classes, but reading and writing of the associated characters can also be part of the class if the students wish to learn these aspects as well.

Hess arranges these classes and the Mandarin teachers. The students who take the classes must pay for the classes. Typical rates of study are NT$150-NT$300 (US$5-9) per hour, per student, depending on the number of students in each class (typically 2-5 students). You may need to travel to a nearby Hess branch to join your class.

A little Mandarin goes a long way in helping you make friends and learn more about local culture - not to mention the names of all that great food you come across
